Description

When twelve-year-old Deirdre Willis and her family relocate from Baltimore to Wexford, a white suburb in Connecticut, Dee's father is certain the move will mean better opportunity for Dee and her sister, Lindsay. But Dee isn't so sure. From the moment she steps on the school bus, she feels out of place. Dee is welcomed with stares and whispers. None of the other kids in her English class have even heard of Langston Hughes, her favorite poet, and lacrosse, not double-dutch, is the sport of choice.
