Zachary Taylor

Description

Called Old Rough and Ready , Zachary Taylor was an impressive military general before being elected president. He spent his early career fighting in the War of 1812, but became a true hero during the Indian Wars and the Mexican-American War. His down-to-earth and sincere leadership won him devoted followers, and although he didn't have any political ambitions, he was elected president in 1849.
