Description
Michigan hosts several major forest communities, including pine, boreal, oak-hickory, and beech-maple, as well as additional ecosystems like sand dunes, beaches, marshes, and prairies. Across these landscapes and wetlands grow almost 3,000 plant species like the Eastern White Pine (the state tree), and notable animals like Kirtland's Warbler, American Bullfrog, Monarch butterfly, Painted Turtle (state reptile), and White-tailed Deer (the state mammal).
