Description

Interwar Britain - the eventful period between 1918 and 1939 - saw the collapse of the Liberal Party, early manifestations of women's suffrage and, in light of continuing social injustices and long-term unemployment in many areas of Britain, the first, albeit brief, Labour Government in 1924 (though the party was to defeat the Conservatives again in 1929). Social behaviour became more liberal, while at the same time churchgoing fell sharply.
