Description
In the early winter of 1890, the 62nd Regiment of the U.S. Cavalry was sent into the Black Hills of South Dakota. Their mission was to capture and return a band of rogue Lakota to the reservation. The band of disgruntled Sioux Indians decided to turn themselves in. Winter was setting in and food was in short supply. They also did not want to remain in the forest with Chiye-Tanka, the Lakota woodland spirit. The Lakota exited the forest and reported to Fort Meade.
